While we were in Ohio, an interesting fact came up. A family member and their spouse combined make just about what Marty makes a year (Marty makes a little more.) When they told me what they make I said "Oh..." and apparently got a look on my face. One of them said "I know! You can feel sorry for us." I said "No, I feel sorry for us. That is about what Marty makes and what do I have to show for it? A car payment and student loan payment. What do you have to show for it?" I proceeded to list many of the things they have, including huge retirement accounts, a paid for house, three paid for cars, multiple vacations a year...
Yup. They are debt free and we are not. Kind of depressing, but kind of motivating, you know?
If we were debt free, I would be packing to move to Florida right now. Heck... if we were debt free I could live in Hawaii right now. Doors would be open all over the place, and the hardest part would be deciding which one to step through.
Marty and I had a discussion on the way home about me getting a job. I want to, but am afraid of the upheaval it may cause for the boys. He agrees, and doesn't want me to if I am even a little apprehensive about it. So, please share your "going back to work" stories - good and bad. I really don't know what to do.
